From the Hartford Courant, "Hubbard, who was born in 1876 and died in 1951, was the ninth generation of his family to live in town. He captured Guilford's history in books he wrote, and in landscape paintings dotted with graceful trees, gentle-looking cows and proud old wooden houses."
